Patiala: The NSS unit of DAV Public School observed ‘Swachhta Pakhwara’ on its premises. As many as 102 NSS volunteers took part in the event that began with the cleaning of school labs, ground and multipurpose hall. A seminar was also organised in which a social worker of Patiala, Col Bishan Das, addressed the volunteers. A presentation was shown to students, which focused on various measures that could be adopted to keep the surroundings spic and span. It was followed by tree plantation in the Children Corner of the school premises.
Spelling bee
The English Department of PDAV organised an English spelling bee. Students from Class VI to VIII took part in the spelling bee. Four teams - Shakespeare, Milton, Keats and Wordsworth - were made comprising of representatives from all classes. Different rounds were conducted. Keats and Shakespeare were declared the winners.
Janmashtami celebrated
Janmashtami was celebrated by Class I, II and III students of Guru Nanak Foundation Public School. The programme began with a speech related to Lord Krishna. Students, along with their teachers, sang group songs. Girls of Class III-C performed a group dance. A play on Krishna-Sudama was enacted by students of Class III-A. — TNS
