Talk on Shiv Batalvi’s poetry

Chandigarh, April 4

Dr SS Bhatti, former principal of Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA), delivered a talk on Shiv Batalvi’s poetry at Punjab Kala Bhawan today. The talk was organised by First Friday Forum in its monthly interaction programme. 

Putting the subject in a broad perspective, Dr Bhatti shared with the selected audience nuances of poetry appreciation that warrants a good comprehension of metaphor, imagery, metre, rhyme, etc. with a grasp of the subject matter. 

He said Shiv Batalvi was a born poet of magnificent stature whose distinction lay in exploiting the ‘genius’ of the Punjabi language. He asserted that ‘Loona’ is Shiv Batalvi’s masterpiece that merits clubbing with the best of Punjabi poetry. — TNS
