Dehradun, March 20
Teak house stood overall first in the 14th annual games and sports meet of Forest Research Institute (Deemed) University, Dehradun, that concluded today.
Dr Ashwani Kumar, chief guest at the closing ceremony, Indian Council of Forestry Education and Research, greeted the sportspersons for giving excellent performances. He said sports not only keep an individual physically fit but also makes him mentally alert.
The Director General also handed over the trophy to the Teak house for standing overall first in the meet. Anurag Jain of Teak house was also handed over the best sportsman award of the meet. Anurag stood first in 100 m, 200 m, 800 m and 1,500 m race. He also won gold medal in the high jump.
Sandal house stood overall second in the meet whereas Sal house got third position in the meet. FRI’s Director Dr PP Bhojvaid, FRI University’s Dean Neelu Gera and Sports officer Dr RS Bhandari were prominent present on the occasion. Sportspersons from Sal house, Pine house, Sandal house and Teak house took part in the four-day meet.
