Thapar University bags 27th position

Thapar University has been ranked 27th among the top 100 engineering institutions in the National Institutions Ranking Framework (NIRF) backed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
An independent agency, the National Bureau of Accreditation, working with the government was responsible for validating the voluminous data submitted by the institutions.
Thapar University has overall score of 67.51 with perception score of 83 out of 100, which is first in North India and 3rd in the country among the top private engineering institutes. In this region, IIT, Mandi, is ranked at 20 and PEC, Chandigarh, at 38.
The first set of the awards was presented by Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani on Monday.
Prof Prakash Gopalan, Director, Thapar University, said, “I feel proud that Thapar University is amongst the best engineering institutions in the country. I am also satisfied with the overall performance of the ranking. However, we need to further improve in learning, teaching and resources category so that the university will be among the top 10 institutions in the country.”
Thapar University has also obtained a global accreditation by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), which sets global standard for programmes.
