Thyroid society to launch awareness camp

The Indian Thyroid Society (ITS) in partnership with Abbott, India’s leading multinational healthcare, will launch a thyroid awareness initiative in the state under its ‘Make India Thyroid Aware’ programme from Shimla on Wednesday.

Under the initiative, a mobile van raising awareness on common symptoms of thyroid disorders will cover 23 cities across Himachal, potentially reaching out to over fice lakh people.

The cities that will be covered includes Nalagarh, Baddi, Solan, Shimla, Bilaspur, Sundernagar, Mandi, Kullu, Manali, Sarkaghat, Hamirpur, Palampur, Dharamshala, Kangra, Tanda, Una, Nangal, Anandpur Sahib, Nurpur Bedi, Ropar, Nahan and Poanta.

Rehan A Khan, Managing Director, Abbot India, said information on doctor clinics in these cities, where people could go and get thyroid tests at discounted rates, would also be made available.

“In addition, people can call on the toll free number: 1800 121 2022 to get details on the initiative for their city and general information related to thyroid disorders,” he added.

The mobile van will reach out to people in Shimla from June 24 to 28, Bilaspur from June 29 to July 5, Sundernagar from July 6 to 12, Mandi from July 13 to 19, Kullu from July 20 to 26 and Manali from July 27 to August 2.
