Avninder Kaur of Government Senior Secondary School, PAU, was awarded for securing the third position in 2015 session. Arvinder, a student of Class XII of the medical stream, was awarded by DC Ravi Bhagat. This award was given by the Government of India under Dr Ambedkar National Merit Award.
VEDIC KARMAYOGA CAMP
A week-long residential ‘Vedic Karmayoga Camp’ was held at BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School. The camp was organised to make the students aware about the Indian culture and the Vedas. It aimed at inculcating moral and spiritual values among the students for leading a stress-free life. As many as 109 students of classes VI to VIII participated in the camp. The students were involved in a wide array of activities such as meditation, yoga, folk dances, painting, drawing, morning hawan, and personality grooming. A number of guest speakers enlightened the students about important social issues during the camp. A cultural show by the students marked the closing ceremony.
SUMMER CAMP
In a summer activity organised by Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, Kitchlu Nagar, unique learning opportunities were provided to students. In ‘Sursangam’, students practised semi-classical and light music, as well as parodies. Dance workshops were also held, wherein students danced on old Bollywood and fusion of Sufi and semi-classical songs. In a ‘Magic with numbers’ workshop, students learnt how to calculate quickly with Vedic mathematics, finger theory and various mathematical games. —TNS
