Traffic plan for Shivratri fair

The district police today launched a traffic plan for the forthcoming International Shivratri Fair.
Superintendent of Police Mohit Chawla today held a meeting with the Sadar SDM, Assistant Superintendent of Police (supervisory officer, Traffic Police, Mandi), Regional Transport Officer, Regional Manager, HRTC, in charge of traffic, Mandi and leaders of auto and taxi unions on arrangements of traffic regulation during the Shivratri fair.
The SP said it was decided during the meeting that temporary bus stands would be established near the bypass on the NH-21 and near the Bhiuli bridge. Barriers for traffic checking and surveillance would also be established at Nagchalla on NH-21, Bindrabani near forest barrier, Khaliar on NH-154, near Kataula Mor and at Taliyahar, he added.
He said several places for parking, including Home Guards Complex at Bhiuli, Beas Sadan, Bhima Kali temple, Guru Gobind Singh gurdwara, office of the Divisional Commissioner in Bhiuli etc, had also been identified for two wheelers and light motor vehicle etc. He said flex boards indicating direction and distance for parking of vehicles would be erected as different places in the town
The SP said several main roads of the town would be converted into one-way traffic from 10am to 8pm during the festival period and no vehicle would be allowed to ply during the religious processions to be taken out on February 18, 21 and 24. But, all emergency vehicles would be allowed to move, he added.
Meanwhile, the Transport Department has decided to provide free taxi service to devotees from Seri Manch to Tarna and Tarna to Seri Manch.
