In a hit-and-run case, a traffic policeman of the UT police was injured after a motorist, who had jumped the red light, sped away after hitting him at the Transport light point in Sector 26.
Sources said the victim, Constable Jai Parkash, was on duty when a car coming from the grain market side jumped the red light and hit him on Saturday evening and sped away towards the Railway light point.
Head Constable Naresh Kumar, who was also on duty at the light point, rushed to the rescue of the victim. The injured was taken to the PGI in a private vehicle.
The police said the registration number of the car could not be noted down. The police have registered a case.
