Trekking programme in full swing at Munsiyari
Pithoragarh, May 23
A team of 28 trekkers was flagged off in Munsiyari today. The members of the team are from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and J&K.
The team will trek from the Munsiyari base to Khuliya Top via Martolithod and Rudkhan camps, said Laxman Ram, a guide and leader of the 17th expedition. “We are persuading the trekkers to keep the Himalayan treks free of litter,” he said.
The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Corporation (UTDC) is sponsoring the trekking programme in cooperation with the Youth Hostel of India.
The trekking programme was inaugurated on May 6. As many as 524 trekkers in 17 batches have participated in the event so far.
The programme will continue till May 30. — OC
