Mussoorie, March 23
Members of the Indian People Theatre Association paid floral tributes at the bust of Bhagat Singh at the Picture Palace here today. They also remembered Rajguru and Sukhdev who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of India on March 23, 1931. Former Mussoorie MLA Jot Singh Gunsola garlanded the statue of
Bhagat Singh and shed light on the life of the martyrs who played a great role in the freedom struggle of the country. He said the martyrs were hanged in a Lahore jail by the British police for killing a British police officer JP Saunders in 1928.
The martyrs took a revenge for the death of another freedom struggle leader Lala Lajpat Rai. IPTA executive committee members RP Badoni, Devi Godiyal, Satish, Ram Prasad Kavi and others were present on the occasion.
Bhagat Singh chowk comes alive
Haridwar: Legendary freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were remembered on their 85th martyrdom here today.
People in large numbers, including politicians, social activists, students and traders, paid homage at the statue of Bhagat Singh at Bhagat Singh square.
At BHEL, Hind Majdoor Sabha and other unions organised a bike rally. They raised slogans to sensitise people to Bhagat Singh’s ideology.
Hind Maha Sabha president Hans Lal Bhind said the independence movement gained momentum after the martyrdom of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) Progressive Youth Wing city president Lalit Mamgain expressed unhappiness over JNU student union president Kanhaiya Kumar’s comparison with Bhagat Singh by Congress leader Shashi Tharoor.
