Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today paid tributes to Lala Lajpat Rai, also known as ‘Punjab Kesari’, on his 87th death anniversary. He said that Lala Lajpat Rai was a great nationalist who steered the independence struggle and promoted Swadeshi movement.

The Chief Minister said it was a matter of pride for Himachal Pradesh that the statue of Lala Lajpat Rai was brought from Lahore during the partition and installed at the central square in Shimla.

Later, the Chief Minister criticized the remarks of the BJP on His Holiness Dalai Lama and said that Dalai Lama was a spiritual leader and an apostle of peace who was known for his kind-heartedness and spiritual philosophy throughout the world.
