App Name: Saavn

Features: The app gives free access to all Bollywood, English, Hindi and Indian regional songs, music and radio stations. One can create one’s own playlists and enjoy lists created by some expert curators.

Pros/Cons: The songs list includes from the latest to hard-to-find classics and across languages — English, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, Marathi, Bengali, Kannada, Gujarati, Malayalam and Bhojpuri. However, downloads are not available on Saavn. For offline listening to music, one needs Saavn Pro, which is a paid app (Rs 99 per month).

Pros/Cons: Downloading facility is provided through the Gaana Plus version of the app along with music in high quality audio, song videos without ad interface. Gaana Plus is a paid app ($1.99 in India).

Pros/Cons: Users can listen to various religious music, chants, mantras, bhajans, Christian songs, Islamic music, Quran and more. One can connect with friends and music lovers worldwide. Regional songs are available too. Music for meditation, yoga and relaxation is an added plus.

Pros/Cons: Especially for the fans of actors/actresses, one can check favourite tracks of one’s favourite celebrity. Users can get access to Live Radio stations too. Users can just choose a mood and already defined list based on that mood will start playing. Lyrics and fun trivia are added features. The Pro service of the app is for offline mode and price starts at Rs 110 per month. One can enjoy 30-day free trial before going in for the paid subscription.

Features: Created by VideoMirchi and powered by YouTube, the app’s high point is latest Hindi music videos. Hits from last year and classics are available too. Current lists include hot songs this week, last year’s hits, Kishore Kumar hits, Mukesh and Lata songs, old songs, party songs, Asha Bhonsle, Amitabh Bachchan, item numbers, workout songs, Mithun, A.R. Rahman and some more.

Pros/Cons: No login or signup is required. Just launch the app and select the channel of your choice. The high point of this app is video, along with favourite soundtracks.
