UGC nod to four research projects by GHG faculty

Four teachers of the GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sudhar, have been sanctioned minor research projects by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, according to the list released recently.
These four teachers are Dr Nitish Dhingra from the Department of Physics, Dr Sohan Singh from the Department of Punjabi, Dr Pargat Singh and Dr Manu Chaddha from the College of Education.
Dr Nitish Dhingra, who is already associated with the CERN Lab, Geneva, shared that he had been granted approval for the topic “Searching new physics beyond the standard model”, under which he will be working on heavy resonances, super symmetry and dark matter etc using LHC data. The results will not only give a new dimension to the study of physics, but will also be a great contributor towards the ongoing research, he added.
Dr Sohan Singh will be working on the topic, “Phonological and morphological analysis of Gujari-Doabi sub-dialect” while Dr Pargat Singh will be studying the “Critical thinking skills among the school students of Punjab”. Dr Manu Chaddha, who will be working on learning disabilities, shared that she would be studying the relationship between resilience and perceived parenting practices among children with learning disabilities in mainstream classroom.
Manjit Singh Gill, president of the college governing council, said: “Such research grants will further help in strengthening the research environment in the college and will also motivate more staff members to avail the benefits being granted by the UGC and other funding bodies.”
