UNIDO, PPCB launch biomedical waste management project

Ludhiana, November 29

The project— ‘Environmentally Sound Management of Medical Waste in India’ was launched today at the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) jointly by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB).

Phlippe R Scholtes, managing director, UNIDO from Austria, launched the model of the project. The project will be implemented in five states of India including Punjab, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Odisha. In all, 28 hospitals in each of the five states and one common treatment facility will be developed into a model for other hospitals. —TNS
