UT Guest House, Panchayat Bhawan under Vigilance scanner
Chandigarh, May 1
UT Guest House in Sector 6 and Panchayat Bhawan in Sector 18 here have come under the Vigilance scanner for alleged irregularities and offering rooms to several officers and their guests at nominal rates.
Vigilance sleuths are scrutinising the records of both establishments to ascertain how much rent was charged from room occupants.
Following the directions from UT Adviser Vijay Dev, who is also the Chief Vigilance Officer, the Vigilance sleuths had seized the records of both guest houses. Sources said entry registers and various other documents related to bookings had been seized by the vigilance sleuths during the recent checks.
“The past records will be verified as who had booked rooms at the guest houses and how much rent was charged from them,” the sources said.
The Vigilance sleuths will also establish how many unauthorised guests stayed at the guest houses.
“There is a suspicion that after booking rooms on the name of officers, their relatives or friends stayed in rooms, which also needs to be probed,” the sources said. The sources said if required they would collect more records from the guest houses.
Sources said there was a suspicion that the rooms after being shown as vacant in official records were rented out unofficially. However during the investigations, no such irregularity has been found in both guest houses. — TNS
