Vanshika Yadav of Dehradun clinched the girls’ title in the 16th State-Level Hemlata Kohli Memorial STAG Table Tennis Championship, held at Whizzkid International Table Tennis Academy, Industrial Area, here today.

In a thrilling final, Vanshika defeated Uddham Singh Nagar’s Mamta Rawat to emerge the winner.

In the boys’ category, Akash Gupta of Dehradun defeated Rakesh Handa to lift the championship title.

Chief guest AB Lal, president of Uttarakhand Table Tennis Association, lauded Whizzkid School and the level of play shown by players from all 13 districts of the state.

Summer Valley School, Dehradun, principal Colonel (Retd) Jasvinder Singh extended wishes to Whizzkid International School principal Neelakshi Raj. He said for the first time in the history of the championship it was being held outside Dehradun and Haridwar had provided a viable alternative venue to the State Table Tennis Association by successfully hosting of this year’s edition.

Whizzkid Academy manager Lokesh Ohri and chief coach Ghan Shyam Rai coordinated the three-day championship.
