Mussoorie, December 14

Residents already reeling under the severe cold condition are now forced to counter the frosty conditions that have made commuting on the roads a difficult proposition in Mussoorie.

The roads from Library Bazaar to Happy Valley, Zero Pint to Kempty village, Picture Palace to Landour, Lal Tibba to Sisters Bazaar, Batagadh to Jabarkhet are covered with white frost, making it difficult for people to drive cars and motorcycles. Drivers of the two wheelers lamented that they were skidding on the route due to the frost and some regular commuters had suffered severe injuries after skidding on the roads.

They lamented that absence of signboards was also one of the reason for rise in the cases of minor accidents here. The Mussoorie-Kempty road is also used by the vehicles for the winter Char Dham yatra and if the solution to the problem is not found soon it could result in major accidents.

Senior PWD officials said they were unaware of the situation and would place signboard warning about the frosty roads during winter season so that commuters can be alerted about the frosty road ahead.
