Employees of Wipro Enterprises, based in Integrated Industrial Estate of SIDCUL, today protested outside the additional labour commissioner’s office alleging harassment and exploitation at the hands of the factory management.
The protesting employees threatened to go on an indefinite strike if the management did not fulfil their 12-point agenda in a week.
Labour union leader Aadesh Chauhan said despite repeated attempts, the factory management had not listened to their woes and demands.
He said labourers and employees were being recruited at Wipro at very less wages and salary and were being made to work beyond stipulated working hours.
“We are forced to work for 12 hours but get wages quite less than mandatory wages, as is being provided to other factory employees. Today, we submitted a memorandum to the assistant labour officer to take action against the factory management. But, if no action is taken within a week or the factory management does not adhere to our demands, we will go on an indefinite strike and block the main gate of the factory,” another labour leader, Deepak Dhiman, said. Meanwhile, no Wipro official responded to repeated calls made by the correspondent for their version.
Madan Singh, Manoj Kumar, Brij Mohan, Mahesh Chandra, Bhagwan Singh, Deepak Chand, Dhiraj, Deepak, Manoj, Adesh, Vipin, Radhe Shyam, Harish, Darshan, Basant Singh, Jagat Ram and Anuj Kumar participated in the protest.
