Hisar INLD Parliamentarian Dushyant Singh Chautala threatened to take legal action against the state government if it did not withdraw Parkash Singh Committee’s report on February’s violent Jat protests within seven days.

Chautala claimed the committee defamed Jats by “equating them with LeT militants” and even accused Singh — a former policeman who headed the panel — of overstepping his brief by commenting on politicians, including former chief ministers of the state.

The Committee has blamed the state government for its poor handling February’s protests and has also indicted some of the state’s high-ranking policemen of “not having the will to act” against rioters and arsonists.

The Haryana Government recently made part of the report public.

By the government’s estimates, the violent protest in February killed 30 people and led to losses worth crores.
