The victim, identified as Suman, along with her brother-in-law Suresh and two children, was going to pay obeisance at Alamgir Gurdwara on a motorcycle.

The accident occurred when they were crossing Lohara Road.

Eyewitnesses said the truck rammed straight into the bike. While Suman died on the spot, her two sons Gaurav (7) Ansul (4) and brother-in-law Suresh suffered minor injuries as they fortunately fell at a distance due to the impact. They were discharged after treatment.

Gaurav and Anshul, who saw their mother dying in front of them, were in a state of shock. The police impounded the milk canter and arrested the driver, Jagdish Singh.

Jagdish was reportedly thrashed black and blue by passersby as he attempted to escape. Commuters complained that Jagdish was driving recklessly.
