Wynberg Allen champion in track and field events
Mussoorie: Wynberg Allen School was declared the overall champion in both boys’ and girls’ categories in the 18th Annual Inter-School Invitational Athletics Meet held at Wynberg Allen School here yesterday. Eight schools from Mussoorie and Dehradun participated in the event that saw several new records being created.
Sanjeev Raina, DIG, Northern Frontier Headquarters, ITBP, was the guest of honour of the function. He gave away citations and awards to the winners of various contests.
Charanpreet Singh and Umang Garg from St George’s College, Gauri Khanna from CJM Waverly, Tanushi Sharma from CJM Hampton Court, Hiya Gahlot from The Doon Girls’ School, Rishabh Khuntia from St Jude’s School and Saurabh Bidhuri and Yuvraj Singh from Welham Boys’ School, Dehradun, were declared ‘promising athletes’ of the meet.
Varnika Raitka and Nuntachai Khanijou from the host school in the sub-junior division, Jyot Kaur Thind from Welham Girls’ School and Arpit Rana from Wynberg Allen School in the junior division, Pronotti Wylie and Saksham Tyagi from Wynberg Allen School in the intermediate division, and Shreya Bahukhandi from Welham Girls’ and Sheriff Singh from Wynberg Allen School in the senior division were declared individual champions.
The cake for the best march past was awarded to Welham Boys’ School. L. Tindale, principal of Wynberg Allen School, congratulated the winners and thanked the physical instructor of the school and other officials for successfully conducting the athletics meet. — TNS
