Shruti Aggarwal, a resident of Rajguru Nagar, said when she woke up around seven in the morning the weather was clear, but within half-an-hour it dense fog engulfed the area.

“There was zero visibility and I had great difficulty in driving while I went to drop my kids to schools. Since the season pattern has changed, I think schools should also change the timing of winter break and declare holidays in January instead of December,” she said. Jasdev Singh, a senior citizen, said: “We went for a morning walk but by the time I returned, it was foggy and it became difficult to even see the road.”

On staying indoors

Medical experts have warned heart patients and senior citizens to stay inside during intense cold weather condition.

“It is advisable for old people and heart patients to stay inside early morning and late evening hours as it is not good for their health.

Those who go for morning walks should discontinue the same during extreme cold weather,” a city based physician said.
