Bains gets addl charge of Agri Director

The government today gave Jasbir Singh Bains the additional charge of Director, Agriculture.
Bains, the seniormost officer of the department, is currently serving as joint director (extension and training). He has replaced Dr Gurdial Singh, who retired on March 31.
Agriculture Minister Tota Singh, said, “Bains was the obvious choice as he is the seniormost officer in the department.”
The department had been rocked by the pesticide scam after the whitefly attack on the cotton crop last year, forcing the government to remove the then Director, Agriculture, Dr Mangal Singh.
