BB Vyas is state’s new Chief Secretary

Senior bureaucrat Bharat Bhushan Vyas, a 1986-batch IAS officer, was today appointed as the new Chief Secretary of J&K, replacing BR Sharma, who will now serve as the Adviser, Administrative Affairs, to the CM.

The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by CMMehbooba Mufti here in which 31 IAS and KAS officers were transferred.

Vyas, who was posted as the Principal Secretary to the CM, has earlier served as the Principal Secretary to the Governor and former CMs Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Omar Abdullah.

Vyas’s appointment assumes significance as he is known as an able administrator who also has cordial relations with top leaders of all political parties.

Meanwhile, Krishan Ballabh Agarwal has been posted as the Principal Secretary (Coordination) in the Resident Commission; Pramod Kumar Jain as the Director General, J&K Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development Department. Shaleen Kabra has been posted as the Chairman, J&K Special Tribunal. Farooq Ahmad Shah, Tourism Secretary, shall hold the additional charge of the Administrative Secretary, School Education Department. Naveen Kumar Choudhary, Commissioner Secretary, Finance, shall hold the additional charge of the Administrative Secretary, Labour and Employment.

Nirmal Sharma has been posted as the CommissionerSecretary,Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj. Kifayat Hussain Rizvibeen posted as the Secretary, Tribal Affairs Department. Bashir Ahmad Bhat has been posted as the Secretary, Cooperative Department, while Vipra Bhal has been posted as the Controller, Legal Metrology Department.

Mohammad Hussain Malik has been posted as the Secretary to the CM, Showkat Ahmad Beigh as the Special Secretary, Social Welfare Department, and Mir Tariq Ali as the Director, Sericulture.

Asif Hamid Khan has been appointed as the Director, Panchayati Raj Institutions.
