Bikram Chowk flyover to be commissioned by April

The prestigious flyover project from Bikram Chowk to Green Belt Park, Gandhinagar, is ready to be commissioned by April this year.
Vinod Sharma, chief executive officer of the Jammu and Kashmir Economic Reconstruction Agency (JKERA), accompanied by technical staff, today had a detailed inspection of Bikram Chowk flyover to identify the minor pending works.
The Rs 77-crore project comprising of 1.3-km-long flyover from Bikram Chowk to Green Belt, Gandhinagar, is being executed by the JKERA under its ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Urban Sector Development Investment Programme funded by the Asian Development Bank. With the commissioning of the project, the movement of traffic from Bikram Chowk to Satwari will be streamlined to a great extent.
The structural part of the flyover is almost complete. Now, the emphasis is on allied works like lighting, painting, premixing, erecting of crash barriers, view cutters, etc. All agencies associated with the project were directed to further accelerate the pace of work on these minor areas to ensure commissioning by April 2017, said Vinod Sharma.
He was accompanied by RK Gupta, director, ERA, Jammu; SK Gandotra, project manager; Shakti Sagar, deputy project manager, Transport, Jammu, along with officers of the ERA and other experts.
