Once functional, the centre would provide training facilities to around 400 persons in several technical fields, including welding technology, job work, tool and die making and vacuum heat treatment, annually.

“The centre would not only provide skilled manpower but also expert tool room guidance to entrepreneurs of the region,” an official said.

It is learnt that there would be no financial implications of the project on the Haryana Government and an expenditure amounting to Rs 77 lakh on the setting up of the facility would be borne by the Central Government through the CTL management.

Set up in 1980 the CTL, Ludhiana, has played a yeoman’s role in the tool and die technology and training of the skilled manpower for the Punjab industry. Currently, the industry in Haryana faced an acute shortage of skilled manpower and the new centre is expected the provide the requisite skilled manpower to the Haryana industry, especially in the NCR.
