Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today paid tributes to Rajput warrior Prithviraj Chauhan and announced setting up of a monument and a research centre on his name at Taraori. It will be based on the history and the freedom struggle of the country. The land for the purpose will be provided by people of Tarori.

He was addressing a gathering at the ‘vikas’ rally organised by Nilokehri MLA Bhagwan Dass Kabirpanthi at the Taraori grain market.

Reacting to the demands raised by the MLA, Khattar announced a slew of sops for the Nilokehri Assembly segment and announced Rs60 crore for 30 roads of the segment. He also announced widening of the Nilokehri-Nigdhu road from 5.5 m to 7.5 m and bus stands on four acres each at Nilokehri, Taraori and Nigdhu.

He announced Rs1 crore for laying a pipeline for the supply of clean drinking water in Taraori town and upgrade of Guru Brahmanand Polytechnic College to an engineering college. A new station for the Tarori police would be constructed at Sector 1. He said they had approached the Railway Ministry for the construction of a railway underpass at Taraori.

Accompanied by MP Ashwini Chopra, CPS Bakhshish Singh Virk, Gharaunda MLA Harvinder Kalyan, Thanesar MLA Subhash Sudha and others, he took a jibe at the previous government for promoting nepotism and favouritism and said they were concentrating on the inclusive development of the state.

MP leaves stage just as CM arrives

MP Ashwini Chopra left the stage just after the arrival of the CM, which showed something is not going well among them. Sources said the MP was fumed at the non-following of protocol by party leaders and was not given space with the CM.

It was the first occasion after a long time that both leaders shared a dais, but the MP left the stage, leaving the people guessing. Earlier, Chopra had questioned the working style of the government. He later retracted and said he had good relations with the CM. But today’s incident has again raised questions on their relations. The MP, however, said he had no conflict with the CM.
