Hisar, November 20
The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has imposed a cut in the salary of outsourced employees.
Till October, nearly 7,500 operators recruited a decade ago received the monthly salary of Rs15,000 to Rs25,000 depending on the length of service and subsequent annual increments.
In November, however, they received minimum wages of Rs9,900.
The affected employees have started a dharna at the DHBVN’s head office in Hisar.
Harshvardhan Joshi, leading the agitation, alleged the DHBVN reduced the wages in violation of a state government notification issued in July. “The notification protects wages of employees getting above the minimum wages.”
He said most of the outsourced employees had been working with the DHBVN for around 8 to 10 years. “My salary is Rs15,000 due to annual pay revision as per the terms and conditions of the government. I got a massive salary cut in November,” Joshi added.
Vineeta Singh, senior engineer, administration, DHBVN, said matter had been taken up with the higher authorities. “The DHBVN Managing Director has taken up the matter with the MDs of other nigams in Haryana. The issue is likely to be sorted soon,” she said.
