Doctor missing on parole didn''t commit suicide, claim police

The police have ruled out that gynaecologist Ravdeep Kaur, who went missing on December 15 while on parole, committed suicide. She along with a granthi was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering a judge.

The police have now collected vital leads that point towards a possible attempt by Ravdeep Kaur to leave the country. Police sources confirmed the accused had undergone a major facial beauty therapy at the clinic of a leading doctor from Patiala. She visited the doctor a couple of days before she left a suicide note and went missing.

“The doctor, who performed the therapy on her, said throughout the treatment she was calm and composed,” sources said. Sources also said Ravdeep had bought some medical books on gynaecology some time ago.

A senior police officer confirmed they had rounded up a Patiala resident, who was in touch with the accused. He has been released after questioning.

Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gurmeet Chauhan said, “We have some vital clues that indicate that Ravdeep tried to escape.”

The police had found a note, in which Ravdeep said a relative of the deceased judge was threatening to kill her and that she didn't want to live.

On October 13, 2005, Vijay Singh, the then additional sessions judge in Patiala, was brutally murdered. Ravdeep Kaur was arrested for murdering the judge. The police said Kaur had confessed that she had paid Rs 5 lakh to granthi Manjit Singh to kill the judge. Vijay Singh, who was in a relationship with her, had rejected her pleas for marriage. She and the granthi were sentenced to life imprisonment.
