The Uttarakhand Forest Department authorities checked the luggage and belongings of passengers at the railway station in Dehradun today in view of seizure of pangolin scales in the district recently. However, no contraband was seized in the process.
Forest Department sources said besides the railway station, department officials accompanied by sniffer dogs also checked the luggage of passengers at Haridwar and Rishikesh bus stations.
Seven kilograms of pangolin scales were seized in the Herbertpur area of Dehradun on January 4, followed by another seizure at Sapera Basti, near the Dehradun railway station. Besides, 4 kg of pangolin meat had also been seized.
