The government will consider giving bona fide Himachali certificate to girls who are married outside the state. An assurance to this affect was given by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on the floor of the House today.
The issue was brought up in response to a query from Congress MLA from Jwalamukhi Sanjay Rattan during the question hour. Rattan said the girls from Himachal who had married outside the state were denied the bona fide certificate in Himachal. “They face difficulties even in inheriting the properties of their parents,” Rattan said.
At present, the bona fide certificate is issued to people residing in the state for more than 20 years, having a permanent house in Himachal or staying outside the state, but having a house in the state.
The Chief Minister said the government would consider making amendments to bona fide Himachali rights.
The Union Ministry for Environment and Forests had granted approval for establishing the south campus of Central University, Himachal Pradesh (CUHP), at Dehra. In response to a query from BJP MLA Ravinder Ravi, the state government maintained that the ministry had given clearance for bringing up the south campus of the CUHP on 81.29 hectares in Dehra. The state government said the Kangra Deputy Commissioner had directed the Dehra SDM to get the land earmarked for the CUHP in Dehra demarcated.
In response to a query from Randhir Sharma, BJP MLA, the Health Minister said 228 hectares had been earmarked for the construction of AIIMS in Bilaspur.
