Chandigarh, April 29
The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, here will launch the facility of online pre-registration for visiting OPDs on Thursday.
Those opting for online registration will not have to stand in queues at the registration counter.
On registering, the patient will be allotted a time slot on a chosen day.
The OPD hours (from 9 am to 1 pm) have been divided into four slots of one hour each.
Online registration will be allotted to two patients per slot per doctor. In each slot, one doctor will see two patients, who come after online registration (in addition to those who register manually).
In all, eight patients will be able to register for appointment with one doctor per OPD in one day.
The facility of pre-registration assumes significance as over 3,000 patients visit the GMCH OPDs every day and spend one to two hours in a queue for registration and later, wait outside the doctors’ rooms for consultation.
A similar facility of prior appointment was launched five years ago for senior citizens. Instead of online registrations, the patients had to register in advance for OPD via e-Sampark centres. The system, however, failed to take off.
As the UT Adviser Vijay Dev will be visiting the hospital for launching the facility, the entire staff was involved in cleaning the hospital.
