Governor inspects renovation work at Nainital Raj Bhavan

Governor KK Paul inspected the restoration and renovation work under way at the historic Raj Bhavan building at Nainital today. He held a meeting with officials of the PWD and the local administration to know about the work being done under the JNNURM scheme of the Central Government.
Paul went to Raj Bhavan in Nainital for the first time after taking charge as Governor of Uttarakhand. He directed the officials that the work for which funds had been provided by the Central and state governments should be accelerated and the beauty and grace of the building should be maintained. The Governor also inspected the area of the golf ground which was affected by a landslide. He also sought information about the law and order situation in Kumaon division.
During an interaction with mediapersons, the Govertnor said he would tour remote hill areas to know about the problems faced by people there so that the benefits of development could reach them. He said there was need to make plans for realising the tourism potential of the state.
He said higher education need to be linked to skill development and capacity building of the youth. He gave the credit for peaceful and impartial elections in the state to its aware residents. He was welcomed by the Kumaon Commissioner, the Nainital District Magistrate and the SSP, besides several senior officers and the nagar palika chairman. Judges of the Nainital High Court, Vice-Chancellors of Kumaon University and Uttarakhand Open University and several eminent people, besides officials of many organisations met the Governor.
