Chandigarh June 23
Health Minister Anil Vij has said that the reimbursement of medical bills of ESI insured workers would be made by the ESI Health Centres concerned.
Vij said earlier the payment of medical bills of ESI workers was made by the Chief Medical Commissioner, ESIC, Faridabad. Now, the bills would not be sent to Faridabad for payment but done by the DDOs of the ESI Health Centres concerned.
The minister said about 14.65 lakh workers in the state working in factories, workshops and the private sector were insured under the ESI. This decision of the government would be beneficial to about 60 lakh dependents of these workers. Earlier, workers had to wait for about six months to a year for reimbursement of their medical bills. — TNS
