There is bad news for lakhs of aspirants for 14,000 Class III government posts to be filled by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) with the Khattar Government withdrawing requisition for these posts.

Sources said the requisition had been withdrawn keeping in view certain technical issues as relevant rules were to be amended for inviting applications for these posts. The new requisition would be sent soon after amending the rules, sources said, adding that those who had already applied against these posts need not apply again.

The new orders, which had been issued by the Chief Secretary’s Office, said amendments to the rules had been necessitated on account of a raise in the age for entry into government service by the previous Hooda Government and the Khattar Government.

Recently, the Khattar Government relaxed the upper age for entry into government service for the special backward classes (Jats, Bishnois, Rors, Tyagis and Jat Sikhs) by five years, raising it to 47 years. Similarly, the economically weaker sections among the general category, with an annual family income of Rs 2.5 lakh, were also extended this privilege.

In August, the Hooda Government had raised the upper age limit for entry into government jobs from 40 to 42 years. The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes already enjoy a benefit of five years over and above the upper age limit for the general category.

In a policy decision recently, the government had put on hold the recruitment process for about 14,000 Class III posts which was set in motion by the previous Congress regime. It had contended that the recruitment process had been put on hold to make it transparent. With that in mind, the Government recently decided to limit the weightage in interview to 10% for Class III appointments while doing away with interview for police constables’ recruitment.
