Chief Minister Harish Rawat today stressed on Digital Uttarakhand on lines of the Digital India campaign of the Centre.
The Chief Minister presided over a programme on Digital India at the Secretariat and called for strengthening internet connectivity in the state. He directed the state IT department to launch senstisation programmes in the state so that more and more people become IT savvy. He said the IT department should open cafeterias, where commoners must be provided training on information technology.
He said villages need to have computers and connectivity in the coming years that would expose them to the world of knowledge and help them to reap the benefits of various e-initiatives.
Additional Chief Secretary Rakesh Sharma said information technology was being put to use in the state in a big way. Uttarkhand IT Secretary Deepak Kumar said programmes will be organized through the week in the state as part of Digital India campaign.
CM tells bank to reinstate suspended union leaders
A delegation of The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), met Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Thursday and apprised him about the grievances of employees working in government and semi-government sectors.
The CITU delegation was led by Lekhraj, district secretary and Jagmohan Mehandiratta. They informed the Chief Minister that Purvanchal Bank management had suspended the bank union leaders without any charge. Rawat directed the bank management to immediately quash suspension orders.
Lekhraj said bhojan matas, anganwari workers, gram prahari and jal sansthan workers were staging protest for the last many days in support of their year-long pending demands.
He said the memorandum was given many times to the heads of departments concerned but to no avail. Lekhraj said pay anomaly, filling vacant posts, timely promotion, better salary etc. were pending demands of the different associations.
Rawat assured them that every possible step would be taken by the government to fulfil theirdemands.
