Chandigarh, February 6
There is something to cheer for residents of the city as the Chandigarh Police today launched the instant complaint logging internet kiosk (i-click) which will enable people to register their complaints without visiting the police station. The machine will provide the facility to submit the complaint through voice recording and even by writing on the screen.
The i-click kiosk was inaugurated by Adviser to the UT Administrator Vijay Dev at HDFC bank in Sector 22.
As a pilot project, the machine is installed inside the ATM booth of HDFC Bank in Sector 22-C.
The complainant under this facility will get an acknowledgement slip along with an SMS alert (in case a complainant provides a mobile number) and the service will be available round the clock. The complaint written at the kiosk can be recorded in the form of an audio file or in written form.
The i-click facility will scan the written complaints. In a case that needs an urgent attention, the emergency button in the machine will alert the police to contact the complainant immediately. The emergency button is directly linked with the PCR. At present, the public has to approach the public window at the UT police headquarters, whenever they have to submit a complaint. RP Upadhyay, IGP, UT, said in the next phase, machines would be installed in the East and South divisions of the city.
Police personnel or visitors?
To ensure there is enough crowd at the launch of the i-click kiosk, Chandigarh police personnel in civil uniforms were made to sit on the chairs kept for residents. They left the venue as soon as the function was over.
