Dehradun, September 9
Members of the Jal Sansthan Laal Jhanda Majdoor Union, Uttarakhand, continued their indefinite strike at the Uttarakhand Pay Jal Nigam head office here today in support of their demands to solve the issues of field works.
Protesters were demanding to merge 343 field workers in the department, to increase grade pay, timely payment of salaries, regularise outsourced staff, pensions to retired employees and provide free water supply to employees of the Pay Jal Nigam.
Irked employees alleged that senior officials of the department had ignored the orders of Chief Minister about providing proper facilities to the field workers. State president of the Employees Union, Kushlanand Uniyal, stated that the department was exploiting field workers by ignoring their demands from long time.
It is strange that they are not even following the orders of Chief Minister about solving the issues of employees. He said if demands of the employees were not solved soon they would be forced to intensify their agitation.
