The city police arrested BJP leader Ravindra Jugran when he was going towards Chief Minister Harish Rawat’s residence to hold a protest here today to demand action against former Uttarakhand DGP BS Sidhu. However, he was released in the afternoon.

The police had information that Jugran along with municipal councillor Rajkumar Kakkar and Rajeev Talwar would hold a protest near the Chief Minister’s residence. They had cordoned off the entire area and placed barricades at the Dilarmam chowk, Cantt Road, Hathibarkala and adjoining areas. The police thoroughly checked driving licences, and registration papers of vehicle owners. They arrested Jugran and his two supporters when they arrived at Hathibarkala. Jugran along with his supporters sat on a dharna at the Hathibarkala police post for being not allowed to hold a protest near the Chief Minister’s residence.
