The school celebrated Foundation Day with vigour and enthusiasm. The occasion was marked by a number of activities. The entire school administered oath to work selflessly towards making India a strong nation. Head Girl Suvidha delivered a speech followed by a quiz. On the spot self-composed poem by students were highly appreciated by one and all. Principal Amita Sharma exhorted students to maintain dignity and decorum to match up with glorious history of the school.

Govt Model Sr Sec School (Sector 47-D, Chandigarh) 

MC election awareness drive was launched in the school. Various activities were conducted to promote maximum participation in the election under the guidance of Principal Renu Puri. A speech on importance of Universal Adult Franchise was delivered by Ajay Singh Rana (TGT SST). Students were told to motivate the society and their parents to cast vote. Debate was conducted by the students of Class X. The students were made aware of the important aspects of elections during morning assembly. Declamation contest and essay writing competition were also held.

SMD Little Champ Smart School (Panchkula) 

To help children learn to identify different forms of transportation, a demonstration of land, water and air transport with real objects was given to the students. They were also told about the safety rules to be followed on road and to obey traffic lights. The intention of this activity was that children learn the concept of different transports through fun and play. Principal Deepika Luthra appreciated the efforts of the teachers. Director Naresh Gupta said, “Activity-based learning is rooted in the common notion that children are active learners rather than passive recipients of information.”

Maharishi Dayanand Adarsh Vidyalaya (Sector 22, Chandigarh)

On the occasion of Energy Conservation Day, quiz and slogan writing competitions were organised. Students of different classes participated in the activities with great zeal. The main aim of the activities was to make students aware about conserving energy for future generations.


St Xavier’s High School (Sector 20, Panchkula) 

The Annual Irene Shear Carol Singing Competition was hosted by the school. Schools from tricity and Ambala participated in the event. The school hall echoed with melodious and mellifluous voices, as they told the story of birth of Jesus Christ. The decoration and props enhanced and complemented the singing. The winning team was St Xavier’s High School, Mohali. 


Manav Public School (Nayagaon, Mohali) 

The school celebrated its annual day with great enthusiasm.. The event began with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by founder Mohan Ram, director Suraj Parkash and principal Shobha Rani. The programme began with Ganesh Vandana performed by classes III and IV students. Kindergarten students welcomed parents with a song. 


‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ staged

Student artistes of Wings Theatre Academy, drawn from different schools, staged their annual production ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’, at St Kabir’s Auditorium on Friday. Written by L Frank Baum and directed by Zubin Mehta, the play based on a fictional tale, chronicled the adventures of a young girl, Dorothy, who was swept from her home in Kansas City by a tornado into the magical land of Oz. She then sets out in search of the wizard who was the only one that can help her get back home. Along her way she makes wonderful friends who were equally keen to meet the wizard for the first time in their life even though they have been staying in Oz for many years. Vidita Jain, Viren, both from Strawberry Fields School, Arjun Tandon and Lakshya from St Kabir, Aditya  from St Johns essayed their roles well.
