Nod to NCR Taxi Scheme in 13 districts

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has approved a proposal of the State Transport Department to implement the NCR Taxi Scheme, 2016, in the 13 districts of the state falling in the National Capital Region.
Stating this here today, an official spokesman said the scheme would be implemented in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Jhajjar, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Sonepat, Panipat, Karnal, Mewat, Palwal, Rewari, Jind and Mahendragarh districts.
He said the scheme would supersede the Radio Cab Scheme, 2006, and the licences to operate would be granted under Sections 74 and 76 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. He said the licence would be granted to an individual or registered firm or society or company. He said licensee would be a taxi service operator and would abide by all relevant statutes, including the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, and IT Act, 2000.
The licensee will charge fare as prescribed by the Transport Department from time to time and the fare structure will have to be displayed inside the taxi. He can charge the waiting charges, flag down charges or night charges, as approved by the department. In case of group category, the fleet will have a minimum of five taxis at the time of grant of the licence and a maximum of 250 taxis per licence.
