Mohali, March 21
“Youths these days have great ideas, especially on health and education, which they can share with me to bring about a positive change in society,” said Gurpreet Kaur Sapra, who took charge as the Mohali Deputy Commissioner here yesterday.
Speaking to mediapersons here today, she said people could approach her, share their views and feedback through a newly created e-mail ID: (reachdcsasnagar@gmail.com). Besides, any resident could lodge a complaint at dc.sasnagar.punjab@gmail.com.
The mail would be accessed only by her or one or two other officials. She said the problem of de-addiction and rehabilitation could not be solved only in hospitals. Youngsters could give great ideas as to how drug addicts could be brought back to the mainstream.
She said she would expect district officials to follow a fixed timeline, be available, accessible, accountable and transparent in their work. She said she would not have any camp office and could be contacted in her office, even after office hours, so that common man could reach out to her.
She said a visible change would come if she went to the field to find out the ground reality.
The Deputy Commissioner said complaints of corruption were often made relating to offices dealing with the public. She said corruption was not necessarily linked to money. Delay in work, too, amounted to corruption, she said.
Sapra said a meeting would be held on March 27 to discuss procurement issues so that farmers did not face problems while selling their produce in mandis. Problems faced by residents at seva kenders would also be solved soon, she said.
