Panchkula, August 18
Former Panchkula Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) is in the dock yet again. The Ambala police are conducting a probe after a woman from Khangoli village submitted a complaint that ACP Desh Bandhu allegedly called her alone to the crime against women cell and allegedly abused her when she told him that she was being troubled by her in-laws.
The woman from Khangoli village alleged that she had submitted a complaint against her in-laws that they were troubling her.
" I got a call from the ACP and he asked me to come to the crime against women cell. I went with my family members and he asked me as to why I had come with them and not alone. He then abused me. He also said that now, he would not take action on my complaint," said the complainant.
The complaint was given to the Director General of Police who further marked it to the Commissioner of Police Ambala and Panchkula. To ensure fair probe, the probe was given to the Ambala police.
The probe was ordered to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Urban, Ambala. The DCP (Ambala), Surinder Pal, said that ACP Raj Kumar Walia was further assigned the job.
Already the ACP who is now posted with the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited is in the dock as the senior police officials recommended suspension to DGP Yashpal Singhal. Two probes conducted by the DCP (Rural), Ambala and the DCP (crime) indicted the ACP for allegedly demanding Rs 40 lakh from a 'rape accused' stating that he would frame him if the money was not given.
However, Desh Bandhu had demanded a narco test of the 'rape accused' to know the truth.
"I had called the woman along with her in-laws. Rather, I had asked a woman SI as to how the case was lodged when the woman's husband was missing for the last eight months as per my investigations. Immediately, the woman and her mother were enraged and said I was not willing to investigate. The woman is in the habit of making false complaints. This complaint is also false. I had already given my statement in this regard. I am being framed unnecessarily," said ACP Desh Bandhu.
