Mussoorie, February 3
A total of 216 officers and subordinate officers joined the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) despite inclement weather in a colourful passing-out parade and attestation ceremony at the ITBP grounds in Mussoorie today.
These officers underwent tough basic training for 26 weeks.
The chief guest on the occasion Harbhajan Singh, IG and director, ITBP Academy, was presented with the ceremonial guard of honour.
Addressing the gathering, IG Harbhajan Singh congratulated the officers inducted today for their successful training and said that this day will remain engraved in their lives forever.
He further said that the newly inducted officers equipped with world class training will have to face various challenges with utmost sincerity dedication, skill and bring laurels to the country.
He also said that the newly inducted officers were now part of an elite force and would uphold the dignity of the force during their career in ITBP. The officer trainee Assistant Commandant Prahlad Singh and sub-inspector Vikrant Chuahan were declared overall best trainees in outdoor and indoor activities during the training period, while sub-inspector Namit Kumar Maan was adjudged best trainee in the indoor activities during the course.
Earlier, ITBP DIG Davindar Singh welcomed all on the occasion and Commandant, training, Senthil Pandyan, thanked the chief guest for gracing the occasion.
Citations and awards were also presented to the officers and jawans, namely DC Tejbhan Singh, AC KR Meena, Inspector Jandel Singh and Havaldar Sandeep for their exemplary service.
Later, parents of the newly inducted officers took part in the pipping ceremony organised on the occasion. The ceremony concluded with a thrilling karate display by the jawans.
