KULLU, MARCH 4
Deputy Commissioner Hans Raj Chauhan said the last date of the verification of ration cards under the Public Distribution System (PDS) had been extended till March 8.
He directed Block Development Officers to ensure that despite holiday, panchayat offices were operational on March 6 and 7. Seminars would be conducted from March 9 to 11 in which the data related to verification and objections be gathered from panchayat offices.
District Food and Supply Controller (DFSC), Kullu, Milap Shandil said the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs had completed the work for computerisation of consumer data of the targeted PDS under e-PDS project. He stated that the first phase of the digitisation of data had been accomplished and now the data would be updated after re-verification. He added that these records had been made available at the panchayat level to redress any claims and objections since February 1. He stated that the records were available at fair price shops.
He urged ration card holders to check the data and make corrections till March 8. He stated that panchayat secretary or assistant would verify the data from the family register and provide a certificate to the ration card holder after verification that the data had been cross-checked and updated by the consumer.
He added that fair price shops would provide food items only after production of this certificate. He urged the consumers to update Aadhaar, bank account and mobile number so that correct data could be uploaded.
