RD Sharma is VC of Jammu varsity

Governor NN Vohra, in consultation with Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, has appointed Prof Ramji Dass Sharma Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu for a period of three years from the date he takes charge.
The Governor is the Chancellor of the University of Jammu, while the Chief Minister is the Pro-Chancellor of the university.
Born on July 3, 1955, Prof RD Sharma is presently the acting Vice-Chancellor of the university and has wide and rich experience of teaching, research and extension in business education, besides possessing administrative experience at different levels of functioning.
He is the senior-most professor of Jammu University and among the senior teachers of business education in the country. He joined the teaching profession in 1980, became Reader in 1987 and Professor in 1994.
In his academic career, Prof Sharma has worked in various positions, which include Fulbright Visiting Professor of Business Administration, URI, USA; Chairman, J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations, Dean Academic Affairs, JU, Rector, Kathua Campus, JU, Controller of Examinations, JU, Dean Faculty of Business Studies and Faculty of Commerce, JU, Head, Department of Commerce, JU, etc.
He has rich research experience and a number of his papers have been published in reputed national and international journals. He was the visiting Fulbright Professor of Business Administration, URI, Kingston (USA). He has to his credit 12 books and 116 papers. His research work has figured in leading refereed journals of national and international repute. He has guided 26 MPhil and 24 PhD students.
Prof Sharma’s appointment brings to a close the selection process of the Vice Chancellor, which commenced in November, 2014.
Immediately after the issuance of formal order from Raj Bhawan, Prof Sharma joined as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Jammu University research scholars who are members of the ABVP welcomed the decision of appointment of Prof Sharma as a full-fledged Vice Chancellor of the university.
A delegation of the ABVP, led by Lokinder Singh, also met the Vice Chancellor and congratulated him for being appointed as the new Vice Chancellor.
