Chandigarh, July 13
Public Works (Building and Roads) Minister Rao Narbir Singh today said a Rs 1,818-crore action plan had been formulated to strengthen 5,605-km roads during the financial year 2016-17.
During the year, special attention would be paid on fixing cat eyes and reflectors at dangerous curves of roads so as to prevent accidents.
“Haryana is the first state in the country where the Public Works Department has prepared an action plan for works to be conducted throughout the year,” the minister said in a statement.
He said a WhatsApp number would be launched in six months to which anybody could send a photograph of damaged roads and these would be repaired by the department within 72 hours.
In the regime of the present government, 12 highways have been declared as national highways whereas in the 10-year Congress regime, the state got only one national highway, he said.
The minister said wherever required on major roads, over bridges and under bridges would be constructed on a priority basis. — TNS
