Yamunanagar Deputy Commissioner Dr SS Phulia has suspended a sarpanch and a panch and chargesheeted three sarpaches and two panches for their involvement in various irregularities.
Usha Rani, sarpanch of Bhogpur village, was suspended for financial irregularities in distribution of widow pension. She was issued a show-cause notice under Section 51 of Haryana Panchayati Raj Act 1994, but, failed to give a satisfactory reply to allegations against her.
Rameshwar, panch of Bansewala village, was suspended for encroaching on shamlat land (panchayat land).
Those chargesheeted are Sanjay Kumar, sarpanch of Unheri village, Ramesh Kumar, sarpanch of Rapauli village, Randhir Singh, sarpanch of Ratangarh village and Kanwar Lal and Ved Prakash, both panches of Ratangarh village.
Randhir Singh, Kanwar Lal and Ved Prakash were chargesheeted for giving false statements in court in favour of Babu Ram, also of Ratangarh village, who encroached upon panchayat land. The DC asked the City Magistrate to conduct a regular inquiry against the trio.
Interestingly, the DC chargesheeted Sanjay Kumar, sarpanch of Unheri village, who was found guilty of discrepancies in the reconciliation of cash book and pass book and marked a regular inquiry to the Jagadhri SDM.
Ramesh Kumar, sarpanch of Rapauli village, was found guilty of drawing Ashok Kumar’s old age pension. The DC also chargesheeted him and asked the Jagadhri SDM to probe the case.
Gagandeep Singh, District Development and Panchayat Officer, confirmed that a sarpanch and a panch were suspended and three sarpanches and two panches were chargesheeted.
