Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today reiterated the government’s resolve to ensure adequate and uninterrupted power supply to the people. He said steps were underway to upgrade existing infrastructure in the power sector.
He was speaking at a review meeting to discuss upgradation of transmission network in the state. Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCI) chief managing director IS Jha along with executive directors of the corporation, and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed officers to ensure speedy completion of the new transmission lines so the power supply could be augmented by importing more energy and ensuring its proper distribution. He said the PGCI should hold regular meetings with officers of the Power Development Department so that various works taken up by the corporation could be completed within the stipulated time-frame.
Singh also called for speeding up work on 220 KV transmission network from Samba to New Wanpoh, 400/220 KV sub-stations, 220 KV transmission line between Aulesteng (Srinagar) to Leh, 400 KV Kishanpur- Wanpoh transmission line, 400 KV Kishanpur-Dul Hasti transmission line, 220 KV Multi Circuit Kishanganga-Amargarh and 220 KV Amargarh-Wagoora transmission lines. He also called for augmentation of transformation capacity at Samba grid station besides exploring the possibility of having separate transmission line from Samba to Bishnah.
