Tehri DM stops one-month salary of PMGSY officials

Member of Parliament (MP) from Garhwal Maj Gen BC Khanduri (retd) expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) officials during the Vigilance Committee review meeting held at Narendar Nagar, Tehsil auditorium, here today.

He has sought explanation from the district administration in this regard.

Tehri District Magistrate Yugal Kishore Pant, who was present at the meeting, has stopped one-month salary of erring PMGSY officials on the occasion.

The meeting was organised with an objective to check whether funds allocated by the Centre were utilised properly or not. He expressed grief and extended his condolences on the sad demise of Rajya Sabha MP Manorama Dobriyal Sharma and observed a one-minute silence before the start of the meeting.

Khanduri said the responsibility of those officials who failed to follow guidelines while initiating projects being aided by the Central Government would be fixed.

While reviewing the social safety schemes for widows, senior citizens and disabled, Khanduri asked the district administration to present a detailed report as to why the pension was not disbursed properly.

He directed officials concerned to conserve water by recharging sources of natural springs and promote use of alternative energy in the district.

He directed them to speed up the rural electrification work.

The DM Tehri apprising the MP Garhwal of various schemes being undertaken in the district said. He said names of women were registered in the records of the Revenue Department after 2005 in accordance with the Hindu Section Act.

MLA Dhanaulti Mahavir Rangad sought funds from the Centre for development in the region.

Tehri MP Mala Rajya Lakshmi Shah, zila panchayat president Tehri Sona Sajwan, CMO Dr Arjun Singh and others were present on the occasion.
